Primary Education 1/4

Educación PrimariaPrimary Education is the longest stage of compulsory education. It last from the ages of 6 to 12 and is structured in three cycles, lower, middle and upper, with each lasting for two years. During this stage a child will develop all the capacities of human thinking.

Pupils now have very defined notions of space and time and are able to mentally structure the whole universe within their grasp. They have a great capacity for learning and their curiosity is immense.

At this stage the School has a continuous timetable in the morning and afternoon at all its centres and devotes more time than the stipulated minimums, which allows dual-curriculum education in accordance with the contents of the official Spanish and British programmes.

The Spanish primary education programme is taught in accordance with the contents of the Law on the Organisation of Education (LOE) of the Ministry of Education and Science [M.E.C.] and the English programme is taught in accordance with the contents of the CIPP – Cambridge International Primary Programme of the University of Cambridge.

The aims of this stage may be summarised as correct reading and writing, adequate verbal comprehension, acquisition of basic mathematical abilities and a correct study habit. All this, of course, in Spanish and English.
