Tigers Basketball School

The Tigers have been going for several years as a Basketball Club, participating in different male and female categories in pre-mini basket competitions and as federated teams in the competitions organised by the Gran Canaria Basketball Federation.

There are basketball courts at all the School’s teaching centres, basketball being the favourite sport of our pupils. The Basketball Club has all the material necessary for playing the sport fully and in comfort, but the most important thing is the children’s enthusiasm, as they have an unbeatable team of qualified instructors, most of them graduates in Physical Education and the unconditional and constant support of parents and the School’s management.

A Tiger’s week

Hi, how are you? We’re very well, especially since we have joined the Basketball Club. Since then we have been doing much more physical exercise and we feel better prepared, both physically and mentally to face our daily tasks. Our training starts on Monday and finishes on Thursday. Once our day’s learning has finished we get out onto the court, chat with our mates and have a snack. Why? Do you know? We’re growing and our bodies need a lot of energy to make us strong and healthy. When the time for training starts, we try to do our best in each task, because that´s what our trainers have instilled in us; it is the only way of improving daily, making a constant effort, but we don´t mind, because we love basketball.

Once the week’s training is over, we play matches. Being able to go into courts wearing our Tigers kit is a big bonus for us. Sometimes it's hard to get to sleep on Friday night and in the morning we are up earlier than usual with butterflies in our stomachs before the match. There is always a good atmosphere on court, boys and girls who want to play, fathers and mothers anxious to see their sons and daughters show their progress, trainers trying to share their knowledge as best they know how, managers, referees are relatives.. We all have a great time. Do you know why? Because it doesn´t matter if we win or lose. We go there to enjoy ourselves and to be better people each day.
